Roger Federer vs Dominic Thiem Preview and Betting Tips

Roger Fedrer
Federer is riding a strong wave of consistency and success as he comes to the final on the back of another ATP title win at Dubai (his 100th ATP Triumph). He has been sublime throughout the tournament. His serve has never really been challenged as he has never lost a game on his serve. He’s yet to lose a set in this tournament and was the favourite for the match against Nadal as well.

Dominic Thiem
Dominic Thiem, on the other hand, is a player with so much promise that it’s really hard to write him off. Probably the one statistic that Thiem would keep reverting to is the head to head battle where he’s 2-2 with Federer which should give him confidence that he has beaten him twice already. Thiem played a flawless first set against Raonic in which he didn’t commit even a single unforced error and it was a bit of a surprise that Raonic took the match to the third set. Thiem would look to play his natural game and just let the cards fall in place. If they do he could be on the verge of winning his first ATP 1000 title.

You really need to look at the form both of these players are in and when you stress enough you find out that Federer is in red hot form right now. Even at the age of 37 he would be motivated to beat the record of most Indian Wells titles(he’s currently tied with Djokovic at 5) and the form he’s in it’s very hard to look beyond him.
Thiem would need to come out swinging and try and replicate his first set performance against Raonic. If he’s able to then with one of the cleanest swings in the game he could make some damage.

In the end, smart money would be on Federer breaking the record of most Indian Wells titles. Dominic Thiem is a powerful player, therefore, we total sets would come to three for sure.
